Tai
Yim is the 8th Generation Grandmaster of the Shaolin Hung Fut System. He
began practicing kung fu at the age of 6, studying Northern Shaolin, Hung
Gar, and Southern Praying Mantis. By the age of 13, Tai Yim began
practicing Hung Fut, soon becoming an instructor and helping teach in his
Sifu’s school. In 1975, Tai Yim opened his own Hung Fut School in Hong
Kong. Tai Yim also studied and practices Chinese Herbal Medicine.
In 1979, Tai Yim
opened his first U.S. Hung Fut Kung Fu School, located in Maryland, where he
continues to teach and spread the Hung Fut System. Tai Yim Kung Fu has
produced many national and international champions and grand-champions,
several of which are currently instructors at the Tai Yim Kung Fu School.
Tai Yim has been active in the martial arts arena around the world. He has
produced several action films. Over the past 3 decades, he has helped
co-found various successful martial arts organizations, including NACMAF
(North American Chinese Martial Arts Federation), and the USAWKF (USA
Wushu-Kung Fu Federation). At present, Tai Yim serves as president of the
World Hung Fut Kung Fu Federation, and as senior vice-president of the newly
formed USTKFWF (United States Traditional Kung Fu-Wushu Federation). Tai
Yim continues to contribute to the martial arts community, spreading and
preserving traditional Chinese martial arts as his main goal.
