Sifu John Wai
has been practicing Kung Fu for over 2 decades. He studied Choy Lay Fut Kung
Fu under the late Master Lee Koon Hung and 4th Generation Master Wong Gong,
two of the top names in Choy Lay Fut. He also studied Wing Chun Kung Fu
under Master Andrew Chung. In the late 1980’s, Sifu Wai started to hit
the tournament circuit, winning both national and international championship
competitions. He started teaching professionally in 1987 and in 1997, he
opened his first school in Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida. In a very short time, Sifu Wai hand-built a team of champions and
Grand Champions in forms, weaponry and Sanshou divisions. He is very active
in the Kung Fu world, readily supporting his colleagues, and working closely
with many kung fu organizations and competitions.
Sifu Wai recently joined forces with the American Top Team and opened a
location in Davie, Florida. Bringing Sanshou to the forefront, Sifu
Wai is the first instructor at American Top Team to incorporate Sanshou into
the Mixed Martial Arts Curriculum.
